Project Description
By continually introducing new construction technologies to Afghanistan, Technologists, Inc. was able to design and build this secure campus on an accelerated schedule so that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) could quickly move their training program for Afghanistan’s National Interdiction Units (NIU) to a customized facility.
Located near Kabul’s airport, this 94,000-square meter compound is the first permanent installation in the country aimed at combating Afghanistan’s drug trade. Expert DEA teams provide the NIU with mentoring, training, and direct operational support—with the objective of making the NIU capable of independent operations.
As the primary center for drug enforcement operations in Afghanistan, the DEA-NIU campus is a critical component of the Afghan government’s goal to decrease narcotics trafficking and processing. DEA training will help build capacity to disrupt and dismantle the most significant drug trafficking organizations within Afghanistan. The DEA-NIU campus play a key role in efforts to focus on high value targets, collect evidence, and capture and prosecute drug traffickers.
