Hydro Dam Surveys and Design

Technologists, Inc. (Ti) conducted engineering studies in three mountain villages in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan—Sherzad, Khogyani, and Deh Bala—to determine the feasibility of installing micro-hydropower plants in local streams. The studies were used to design systems capable of generating from 10 to 30 kilowatts of electricity, depending on water flow.

The systems Ti designed are inexpensive and simple to maintain, yet they provide nearby households with electrical power for operating lights and small appliances—a major convenience for local residents in remote communities.
