Rehabilitation of Avenue LaHatte
Technologists Inc. (Ti), in partnership with the YCF Group, rehabilitated a critical road link in Petit-Goâve, Haiti that had been badly damaged by the 2010 earthquake in that country.
The Ti/YCF Group partnership graded the entire length and installed a new concrete curb, gutter, retaining walls and drainage structures, base and sub-base courses, expanded shoulders, sidewalks, and street lighting. Ti modified the original engineering plans in response to new site conditions caused by the earthquake. The Ti/YCF team also prepared an environmental mitigation and protection plan, and maintained strict adherence to this plan throughout the life of the project.
The rehabilitated roadway is the main thoroughfare in Petit-Goâve both for the local community and for through traffic to Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, some 68 kilometers to the northeast.
The Ti/YCF Group partnership completed the project as subcontractor to Chemonics, Inc. Funding was provided by the USAID Office of Transition Initiatives under its Haiti Recovery Initiative.
