Ti then built inbound and outbound roads, parking areas, fencing, and public latrines and installed a Rapiscan™ GarDS inspection system in both the customs and immigration facility and the commercial customs facility. For the customs and immigration facility Ti built commercial-vehicle inbound and outbound kiosks, a welcome center, and a customs and police building. The commercial customs facility includes an administration building, truck and cargo inspection building, and storage warehouse.
Ti also designed and constructed a water-distribution system, sanitary-sewer system, and a power distribution system.
The Islam Qalaa Border Crossing and Commercial Customs Facility has become a showcase for the Afghan government and the standard for border-control facilities for the entire country.
Afghan-Iranian Border Crossing
Technologists Inc. (Ti) designed and constructed the border crossing and customs police facilities at Islam Qalaa in Herat Province, Afghanistan.
The new complex, consisting of more than 20 buildings, roadways, and infrastructure, includes a customs and immigration facility, commercial customs facility, plus berthing, dining, and administration facilities for government officials.
The entire complex was built alongside the existing one to allow border control to continue during construction.
Prior to construction, Ti completed geotechnical surveys, prepared a master plan, cleared the site of unexploded ordnance, and graded the site for drainage.
